The Family vacation (-1) to the Grand Canyon and back.... Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona..... and Louisiana and Florida on the way back!



This is the Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado. There is a group tour that takes you hiking down to the ruins. To leave Cliff Palace yo have to climb up the side of the cliff on three ten foot ladders similar to the ladders in the picture.




This is from The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. While hiking parts for the painted Desert, Haley spotted a white-fuzzy-tail jack rabbit. We did not take any tours for this part of the trip.







The view from the from the top... This is from the East entrance area of the Grand Canyon. Haley (and her Eagle-Eyes) spotted a snake while leaving one of the gift shops and was the first to spot a Kangaroo Rats while hiking the Rim Trail near the Grand Canyon Village.




This is the East side outside of The Alamo. There are only a couple of pictures from outside The Alamo asked, out of respect, that no pictures are taken within The Alamo.

St. Michael’s Church

St. Michael’s Church This church was completed in 1761 and is the oldest church in the city of Charleston. George Washington attended services at the church when he visited Charleston in 1791. The church has a clock and ringing bells that date back to Colonial times. The clock tower is the oldest tower clock in North America. My first graders study George Washington and this would be an interesting fact to share with them about his visit to one of Charleston’s oldest churches.

Biggin Church

Biggin Church The Biggin Church Ruins are the ruins of a church in Berkeley County. The church has been burned 3 times since it was first constructed in 1711. It was the church of the parish of St. John’s Berkeley. The parishes served religious and civil functions in the colony. The first fire was a forest fire. Henry Laurens and William Moultrie worshiped in the new building. The church was used in the Revolutionary War as a depot. The church was burned as the troops retreated. The church was rebuilt again. During the Civil War, furniture was removed and the building was damaged. The building was once again burned in a forest fire. Two walls remain of the church.
